The latest edition of Shaping Business shows how women are building companies that scale with purpose, leading industries that need reinventing, and reshaping the flow of investment capital. These are not isolated success stories—they are signals of structural change across the UK business landscape.

The Beauty Crop: From Solo Card to £11m Turnover

When Ning Cheah printed herself a CEO business card, she was her company’s only employee. A decade later, The Beauty Crop employs 30 people and reports £11 million in annual turnover, proving that plant-based, purpose-driven brands can scale without sacrificing authenticity.

Hived: Redesigning Logistics for a Zero-Carbon Future

Led by Murvah Iqbal, Hived has delivered more than 6.5 million parcels with a 99% on-time rate using an electric fleet and AI-driven logistics. Its recent $42m (£34m) Series B raise will accelerate the company’s mission to replace legacy delivery systems with seamless, sustainable alternatives.

Shifting Capital Flows: £450m to Female-Led Funds

A landmark UK and British Business Bank commitment has doubled pledges to female-led VC funds, dedicating £450 million to underrepresented fund managers and diverse investors. For the first time, all-female founding teams have secured a higher share of angel investment from Investing in Women Code signatories.
